Breaking News

It was announced in early August that Dorchester will cease publishing mass market paperbacks and will release all future books as ebooks and trade paperbacks. Beginning with the September releases, all books will appear first as ebooks. It is Dorchester’s stated intention that a trade size paperback edition will be released about eight months later. Thus my September release – No One But You which is a tie-in to the Seven Brides series – will be released as an ebook with a trade edition scheduled for May of 2011.

Dorchester and I had come to an agreement, and I had signed a contract, for me to write the last two books of the Night Riders series, books about Ivor Nikolai and Nate Dolan. Just as I was finishing the first of the two books, Dorchester decided not to pick up the contract after all. Since this was done by no action or statement on their part, I can’t say what the future of these two books may be. I hope to be able to finish the series, but there are other issues which have to be settled before Dorchester and I can move ahead together.

I am terrible about keeping my website up to date, but I will try to keep readers abreast of the situation until something is settled. If you would like to write my publisher, go to their website at  www.dorchesterpub.com and click on the customer service tab on the top right.

In August of this year, Dorchester released Rose, Fern, Iris, and Laurel from the Seven Brides series with new covers at the bargain price of $4.99. They have stated that they will release Daisy, Violet, and Lily in the spring of 2011 at the same price. These books have new ISBN numbers which means that companies like Amazon may not realize they are reissues of earlier books. Some of my regular readers with standing orders for my new books have already been sent these books and are understandably unhappy. Please see that this does not happen to you.

As many of you know, I didn’t write The Cowboys series in chronological order. I wasn’t trying to be difficult. Since so many of the boys were about the same age, I had to figure things out one book at a time. The chronological order for the first nine books is JAKE, WARD, BUCK, DREW, SEAN, CHET, MATT, PETE, and LUKE. Things get more confusing after that. Chronologically, THE MAVERICKS, which came out in December, 2005, is the 12th book in the series. The books which were published immediately after it A TEXAN’S HONOR (July 2006) and TEXAS TENDER , Will’s book, (January 2007) actually take place before THE MAVERICKS. I’m only telling you this because Zeke and Hawk appear in both books still unmarried. If this is confusing, I apologize. This is just the way my brain works. It drives my family bonkers, too. TEXAS LOVING (Eden’s book, April 2008) is the last book chronologically. I did my best to catch you up on all the families, but the Maxwell clan is much bigger than the Randolphs. By the time Eden got married, there were twelve couples with nearly forty children.

The Night Riders is supposed to be a seven-book series. Texas Homecoming, Texas Bride, and Born to Love were the first three books in the series. Someone Like You (Rafe’s story) and When Love Comes (Broc’s story), are the next two. The future of the last two books is uncertain at this time. If you're having trouble purchasing any of these books through your local bookstore, call 1-800-481 9191 or go to the Dorchester web site at www.dorchesterpub.com If you would like a list of all the books I’ve written, send me your address at P. O. Box 470761, Charlotte, NC 28226

I want to thank all the readers who’ve written to tell me how much they’ve enjoyed my series, to ask where they can find books they’re missing, and who wrote my publisher asking that I be allowed to finish the series. Writers can’t exist with readers. I’m very fortunate to have each and every one of you.
