Hello, Dolly! on Broadway. Don't Miss Your Chance to See Bette Midler Live.

The Grammy, Tony, Golden Globe and Emmy award winning Bette Midler, known for First Wives Club and Fiddler On The Roof, makes her way back to the Broadway stage for Hello, Dolly!, which is one of the greatest musicals of all time. Along with her co-star David Hyde Pierce, Bette Midler heads the revival of the glorious comedy by Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman as the matchmaker known as Dolly Gallagher Levi. Midler is following along the in the footsteps of Pearl Bailey, Barbara Streisand and Carol Channing. Hitting the stage with golden age musical charm, Hello, Dolly! is a wonderful slice of entertainment that encompasses a number of Broadway showstoppers like "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" and "It Only Takes A Moment".

Based upon the play The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder, the show made its debut in 1964 on Broadway with Carol Channing starring in the title role. A smashing success, this production went on to win 10 Tony awards and was then adapted for the silver screen just five years later with a cast that was led by Michael Crawford and Barbara Streisand. The 2017 revival is being directed by the four time Tony award winner Jerry Zaks and also choreographed by Warren Carlyle.

What's Hello, Dolly! All About?

A cantankerous, rich Yonkers widower in 1880s by the name of Horace Vandergelder is looking for a wife. To help him along the way, he looks to the services of Dollar Gallagher Levi, the professional matchmaker. Little does he know that Dolly already feels that she, herself, will be his perfect match. All she has to do at this point is simply make Horace realize this as well.

Starting in June, Donna Murphy from Wonderful Town will be playing Dolly once a week, which is a role that she is said to be fabulous in. If the revival is able to keep going after the contract with Midler expires, just think of who else would be playing Dolly!
